33 Martinis fits perfectly in a jeans pocketPocket-Sized, Yet Powerful

33 Aquavits is an aquavit (aka "snaps") tasting journal that provides an easy way to quickly record your tasting notes in a small, convenient notebook format. It's thinner than an iPhone and easily fits in a back pocket.

Perfect for Purists, Made for Mixers

33 Snapsglas of Aquavit is the perfect gift for aquavit aficionados, geeks, nerds and other fans of the rectifier's art.

Designed for Speed and Style

Aquavit Flavor Wheel

It’s tough to hold a notepad in one hand, a pencil in the other, and have another hand left for your snapsglas. Taking notes with 33 Aquavits is as simple as checking a few boxes and entering a few basic facts.

The flavor wheel in 33 Aquavits can be used to quickly recall a spirit's unique flavor long after consumption. For low values of the flavor, fill in dots near the wheel’s center. A potato-based, Norwegian aquavit aged at sea in sherry barrels is used in the example shown.

A Collaboration with Jacob Grier

When Jacob Grier asked me if I wanted to work together on a book, I said "yes," without hesitating. After all, Jacob, a fellow Portlander, has written about spirits for Imbibe, The Atlantic, Slate, and a small California newspaper you might have heard of - The Los Angeles Times. When he suggested we work on a journal for tasting aquavit, I said "Just one? Let's make it four!"

A Four-Way Salute to Scandinavia

One of the coolest things about aquavit is its local character. Norwegians like theirs aged (sometimes at sea), and generally consume it warm. Icelanders like theirs cold, and until quite recently, there was just one brand, produced by the government.

So, this book is available in four distinct cover colorways. The inside pages are the same in each, but the outside covers are inspired by the flags of the four Aquavit-producing (and -consuming) nations: Denmark, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Choose one, or save a couple bucks with a 4-nation variety pack.

One more thing - each book includes a secret ingredient: a teeny, tiny amount of real aquavit is added to the ink in each edition, which is cryptically noted on the back.

Eco-Friendly

33 Aquavits is made with 100% recycled papers sourced in the Pacific Northwest. Interior pages are 100% post-consumer recycled content and covers are 85% post-consumer recycled content and 15% recycled content. The booklets are printed using US-grown soy-based inks in sunny Portland, Oregon.
