33 Tacos Tasting Journal

Pocket-Sized, Yet Powerful

33 Hot sauces fits in your pocket!

33 Tacos is a pocket-sized taco journal designed for speed. It’s tough to hold a notepad in one hand, a pencil in the other, and have another hand left for a taco. Taking notes with 33 Tacos is as simple as checking a few boxes and entering a few basic facts.

It's the perfect gift for the taco lover or taquero in your life.

It pairs perfectly with my hot sauce journal or my Popular Peppers letterpress print.

Flavor Roundup

Taco Flavor Wheel

The flavor wheel in 33 Tacos can be used to quickly recall a taco's unique characteristics long after consumption. Evaluate the tortilla, salsa and filling by marking dots along the wheel's labeled spokes. For low values of a flavor, mark near the wheel's center. A very spicy salsa might merit a “5,” while a milder salsa, a “2.” Connect the dots when finished. An Al Pastor taco with pineapple-habañero salsa is used in the example at right.

Taco Translator

The inside front cover of 33 Tacos contains a handy table providing translations for some rarer taco terminology, from Sesos (braised cow or pig brain) to Surtido (Mix of assorted pig parts), and just about everything a taquero could fit between two halves of a tortilla.

Secret Ingredient

A teeny, tiny amount of real lime juice is infused in the ink used on the cover.

33 Tacos is made with 100% recycled papers sourced in North America. The books are printed with care and infused with a little bit of fresh lime juice in sunny Portland, Oregon.

A humble and humongous thank you is due to Portland's own Nick Zukin, who provided feedback on early drafts of this tidy tome. I'd also like to thank Team Taco Test: Courtney Johnson, Michael Guebert, Charles Culp, James Gentry and Thomas Bleigh.
