Deluxe Cheese Tasting Set
A Cheese Party in a Box!
My idea of a great party involves several hunks of great cheese and a few good friends. That’s what inspired this cheese tasting set. It includes everything you need for a great cheese tasting – just add cheese!
The cheese tasting set includes the following, all of which are made in the USA:
1 Handmade Oregon Black Walnut Cheese Board
The cheese board in this kit has a secret. The slot in the back can hold either the included cheese knife or cheese placards.
The board is hand-rubbed with 100% natural Washington-made walnut oil, which dries to a hard, durable finish and uses no petroleum products. It shouldn't cause any problems for those with nut allergies, but please tread very carefully if this is an issue for you or your friends or family members.
1 Carbon Steel Cheese Knife/Spreader
A bespoke carbon steel knife included in the set is sharp enough to cut hard cheese but also works well serving soft and fresh cheeses. It's made in the USA by a family-owned knife maker in Massachusetts who got their start in 1850. Carbon steel knives hold a very sharp edge, but they do develop a natural patina over time. To avoid the development of rust, you shouldn't let moisture linger on the blade. Dry the blade after washing.
8 Letterpressed Cheese Placards
If you're hosting a blind tasting, present cheeses on the board one at a time, using a unique placard for each. The placards fit neatly in the slot on the cheese board. Turn the card around so your guests can’t see the particulars, and let them guess the cheese’s name, origin and milk using the included cheese journals. It's a fun way to train your cheese palate. The cards are very thick 100% recycled chipboard which has been letterpress printed in Portland with a beautiful blue ink.
4 Cheese Tasting Journals On Recyled Paper
The kit includes four copies of my 33 Cheeses cheese-tasting notebooks, which are designed for taking quick notes on the cheeses you try. They make a great keepsake for party guests, and are standard issue pocket paraphenelia for cheese enthusiasts.
