Illustrated Anatomy of the Seattle Hot Dog

A Love Letter to Seattle
The Seattle Hot Dog is a living thing. Unlike its peers in New York or Chicago, with many decades of tradition, the Seattle Dog is a newcomer, debuting in the late 80s and developing in the intervening years. Its defining element is cream cheese, slathered on both sides of the dog. But many other ingredients have come, gone, and come back again as the Seattle Dog has evolved and changed. Today, it's universally agreed to include grilled onions and cream cheese, but the rest is up to you. Sriracha, peppers and yes, even ketchup are common. It's the story of Seattle, told in sausage form, changing with the influx of new industries, new immigrants and new ideas. It's safe to say I developed a passion for it as as part of the research for 33 Hot Dogs, my hot dog journal.
This print is my homage to the Seattle Dog, breaking down its anatomy, ingredients, history, and construction in a simple, attractive print that's perfect for hanging in bars, offices, food carts, pushcarts, kitchens, and more. It makes a great gift for the Seattleite in your life.
Make it a Combo
I have three more hot dog prints for the real frankfurter fiends. Combine my Seattle with the L.A. Hot Dog, Chicago Hot Dog or the N.Y. Hot Dog print for a diet-destroying, budget-friendly combination.
Add Your Own Frame
Anatomy of the Seattle Hot Dog is an easily-frameable 8 x 10 inch (20 x 25.4 cm) print - a super common size. Off-the-shelf frames are available at Target, IKEA, or even better - your friendly neighborhood frame shop!
Fresh-Pressed in Portland

This open-edition print was printed by hand, with love, on a gluten-powered, hand-fed 1909 Chandler & Price letterpress using soy-based inks. Each color used requires a separate trip through the press. This print uses three inks: a mustard yellow, vibrant relish green and a hot red (for the red hot).
American-made French Paper
The poster is printed on 100% recycled (30% PCW), chlorine-free French brand paper, made in Niles, Michigan. If you're as big a paper nerd as you are a hot dog nerd, you'll want to know that it's 125# Muscletone in Starch White Cover Stock.
