Small Business Solidarity May 13 2025
It's tough out there for the small business, man. Inflation. Tariffs. High pollen counts. Well, maybe that last one is just me? The world may be changing - but my values haven't.

- Made in America: all my books, prints, and kits are made right here in Portland. It's a choice I made right from the start, not out of blind patriotism, or trying to avoid tariffs, but because I believe in working with friends, whether that's my printer partners, paper mills, or rubber banderies (I assume that's what you call a rubber band factory).
- Earth-friendly: Recycled paper and soy ink are just a part of the story. Local production means a light touch where the environment is concerned. Less miles traveled also makes good financial sense, and gets me from idea to product quickly.
- Affordable: Due to inflation, I made a price increase late last year - my first in years. I'm holding prices steady for the foreseeable future so my goods remain affordable and attainable for consumers like you, as well as my beloved independent retail partners.
- Speedy Service: If you've worked with me before, you know I pride myself on quick responses, fast shipping and predictable timelines. Thanks to that local manufacturing ethos, and daily trips to the post office, you'll get your goods quickly.
Even in this unpredictable time, I am reminded that people will continue to graduate, inebriate, debate, decorate, procreate, commemorate, and celebrate life’s many, many magical moments, regardless of the tariff rate.
My goods have been fortunate to be part of many a life story, and I hope you’ll continue to consider 33 Books Co. a partner as the world continues to change. Small businesses have to stick together.
